Alaska trip
2014!
The Alaska trip this year was amazing! Because this was my second
trip, I believe it was MUCH easier in the park! We were in Penland Park last
year, and we were fortunate enough to get Penland again! Last year, I described
Penland as a concrete slab with a small grass field behind it. Penland was the
same this year; the only change was that the Port-a-potty was chained to the
fence so the kids couldn’t tip it!

The kids that I saw last year were there again too. Although there
were some new ones and a few from last year that never showed. In my last blog
post, I talked about JoJo and Shina.

They were both here again. I was able to minster to them as well as
others. I ministered mainly to JoJo, a little girl named Tracy, and another
sweet princess whose name I had never heard before and I sadly have forgotten.
I did minster to Shina, but not as much as last year.

Along with ministering in the parks, we saw some amazing things as we
drove through this beautiful state. One night, we went “moosing”. Moosing is
when you set out driving the roads of Alaska looking for a moose. I was more
than thrilled when our moosing trip was a success! Here’s a picture of the
moose we saw, named “Gucci”, with a little edit I createdJ.
Also, the nature we saw in Alaska was breath
taking!

On our free day,
we visited the small town of Talkeetna, Alaska.

Although it was small, it was really cool. I even met the mayor!
Did I mention he was a cat…?

And now

SELFIES!

ALASKA
My Alaska trip was amazing! We saw moose and bear (pics on the way! :D) and really got to minister to the kids in our park!
We were in a "park" called Pinland Park. Park is an overstatement. The "park" was a piece of concrete in the middle of a motor home neighborhood. The kids that came were hungry and only had one outfit that they wore every day. Some kids new a little about Jesus, but most kids had no idea who he was. They just came to the park for a meal and to play some games.
Shina and JoJo were the kids I really ministered to.
Shina was 5 years old. She had many brothers and sisters that came with her to the park each day. The oldest was 10. Shina and her family were probably the most fortunate family there. There house was run down, but they always had fresh clothes that smelled great, and a little piece of candy with them.
JoJo I dont know as much about. He only showed up 2 of the 5 days we were there. He is four years old with cuts and scratches all over him.
He was running and fell on the concrete the first day he came. he came up to me and showed me his bleeding arm. I got the first aid kit and started to clean him up. The medicine stung his arm and he pulled back away from me. I later realized that was probably the best treatment he had gotten for a cut his entire life.
The second day, Shina and I were sitting under her umbrella. I was trying to tell her about Jesus, but she wasn't very interested. Then JoJo sat with us. He was listing too. I could tell he had never heard of Jesus before.
One kid at our park , Patrick, (I didnt get to know him very much) accepted Christ! I was so excited! I talked to his sister who is not yet a believer. I cant wait to see what God does in their family.
There will be more Alaska adventure posts soon! Feel free to ask questions!
